The Absorbent Mat — For a Safer Facility & Cost Savings

Oil leaks can cost you money! They can make the floor slippery, a worker can slip and fall, and the next thing you know is that you have a Worker’s comp suit on your hands!

Or they can just plain be unsightly. Either way, why not practice an ounce of prevention and use some oil absorbent mats wherever there’s a chance that some oil may leak or spill?

It can safe you a lot of money in the long run, as it will cut not only your maintenance costs, but also prevent accidents (see above).

So which absorbent mat is the right mat for you and your facility? Why not start with an universal oil drip floor mat. It has a backing that is non-penetrable and will keep your spills contained — and yes, your floors clean.

Here’s what you can do with a mat like that:

oil absorbent mat

Place under fleet vehicles

You can place it under fleet vehicles so it can soak up any drips from vehicle leaks. That’ll prevent storm runoff water pollution too.

Place on walkways

You can place an absorbent mat on walkways, whether it’s around equipment or on carpet walkways in the office. It will definitely reduce your cleaning costs.

What’s a good mat?

Look for a tough top that’s super absorbent. And also make sure it has non-skid and non-penetrable backing. After all, you don’t what that oil to leak through!

Get the right size

Get the right size — or buy an entire roll. Believe it or not, they can actually be cut with scissors.

And you can also get a heavy duty roll rack. It will keep your roll off the floor and make it easy to “dispense” however much mat you may need.

Of course there are other types of mats as well, including railroad track mats, probably the most heavy duty absorbent mat type of all.

And, of course, if there’s a spill where you didn’t put a mat, there are always oil absorbents to clean up the mess…
