Oil Drum Storage – Store Oil Drums while Complying with OSHA
When you need oil drums in your facility, you need a place to keep them safely. You can’t let them sit on the shop floor, nor can you place them along the walls. They will both get in the way and cause an increased danger of spills and contamination. As a matter of fact, it is a fire hazard since oil is flammable.
So where do you keep them?

The answer is oil drum storage safety cabinets because they are designed specifically for the storage of oil drums. This is a wise move considering you are required by law to store your oil drums accordingly. OSHA or Uniform Fire Code (UFC) regulations could result in stiff fines. You are also protecting your employees and your facility.
Obviously, not just any old cabinets will do. You have to make sure to choose high quality safety cabinets from a reputable provider. Check that they meet OSHA requirements as well as UFC regulations.
You also need to look for 18 gauge steel, vents with fire baffle and caps, double walls, and other positive features. A bright color, such as yellow and noticeable warnings are also a must.
And depending on the types of oil drums you have, you can purchase the cabinets for horizontal or vertical storage. Extra shelf space for accessories, such as drum rollers are also a must and prevent accidents through safer handling. Add a ramp for even more safety.
And once you have set up your oil drum storage cabinets in your facility, it is important to safely store your drums at all times until they are needed elsewhere in your facility.
